One of the core values of Grace Lutheran Church in Andover Minnesota is outreach. We are called by Christ to serve one another – that may be as close as your neighbor down the street or someone you’ve never met on the other side of the globe.
This core value has lead us to Haiti. We would love to share our Haiti journey with you.
I think the question we get asked most often is “Why Haiti?” It’s a very simple question, but not a simple answer.
Our neighbor is struggling
• Haiti is the poorest country in the Western hemisphere.
• 78% of Haitians live on less than $2 US per day.
• Haiti’s adult literacy rate is about 62%.
We can make a difference to our neighbor
Haiti doesn’t want a handout, they need a hand up. By partnering with an organization that has ‘boots on the ground’ in Haiti that has established Haitian relationships, we are able to make a difference in lives. World Wide Village asks the community leaders what they need and by working side-by-side with our Haiti neighbors, we can help them to fulfill their needs as individuals, families, a community and a country.
“Every time you give, you get more back”
It’s important for people to see outside of our own backyard what is going on”
“It was cool to see how happy the kids can be with nothing”
After the 2013 trip to Haiti, the team put together this amazing video. Let us show you how Haiti has touched our lives ~ amazing video
